This show is fantastic. I look forward to it. I know that Eddie had some notoriety apart from the show, and wish his podcast with the Porter Wagner-style title the best, but I think the change might be an improvement in the show’s consistency.

Good luck with changes and experiments in format. The tangents about your careers are fantastic tangential glimpses into L.A. comedy. All the best.

Amber is more correct than Sean in the notion that essentially no work of art escapes genre…the truly sui generis is pretty damned rare, and when it occurs, if it’s any good at all (and often even if it isn’t) it usually followed in form to create a new genre. Just because something isn’t a crime novel nor a maritime novel nor something else that doesn’t or at one time might’ve had a shelf to itself in a library or a Borders (RIP), doesn’t mean it isn’t a Bildungsroman or a novel of manners or the like. And, of course, “novel” and “short story” are genres, as well.

It’s, as Sean’s more telling point goes, what the writer (or painter, or improviser, or comedian) does with the material that matters, not how the material can be tagged (in that other, larger sense).

I love when Sean reads for his parting shot. I cried last time when he read about love/relationships… or whatever. I forget.
