Flugelhorns are indeed brass, rather than woodwinds, the plus-sized variation on the trumpet…Chuck Mangione, probably sadly, remains the world’s most famous flugelhornist.
That Aubrey Plaza’s blog remains up after six years of inactivity indicates the utterly shaking nature of Blogspot. I suppose it is a tribute of sorts. (And it’s quite funny, at least at first skim and I suspect at closer inspection.)
And, a bit more of a Long Shot challenge, I’d bet that Eddie was thinking of Audie Murphy (the war hero who had a post-war acting career, though not much of one), maybe with a lateral touch on Aubrey Beardsley (the Decadent artist who did some brilliant Poe illustrations, among other impressive work, and died young like a real Decadent might).

Of course you’re right about Audie Murphy, I’m sure. I wish I had thought of that in the moment- two possible mistakes are always funnier than one.
When the day comes (if it ever comes) that we release the deluxe boxed set, hopefully you will provide some copy for the accompanying coffee table book of episodic annotations.
