Eddie is right about rabies! From the CDC’s website:
>Small rodents (such as squirrels, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, and chipmunks, ) and lagomorphs (such as rabbits and hares) are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to cause rabies among humans in the United States. Bites by these animals are usually not considered a risk of rabies unless the animal was sick or behaving in any unusual manner and rabies is widespread in your area.
Eddie, please leave those squirrels alone. please. my mother does the same thing, although she has a house, and is in the city (providence, RI). she has created quite a mess on her deck and they come into the house (ACK!). this poses all sorts of problems. ie: the vermin the debris from the food attracts, the bacteria and disease from the vermin. the possible bites she may incur. the damage from the squirrels trying to build a nest in or on the building, this may include electrical damage which may lead to a fire, siding or roofing damage which may lead to leaks when it rains. I think you get the picture, so please please please stop feeding them. If you feel compelled to feed them go to the park or your neighbors house down the street. I’m with Sean on this one. the peaceful way to go is to make everybody happy and piss off a couple of squirrels. that’s my opinion which you may find a little insensitive but think of your fellow man. thank you and “Namaste Motherfuckers!” Jim
Just finishing listening to one of my new favorite podcasts. One of my others is Comedy and Everything Else. So of course I loved this one.
Regarding Jimmy’s parting shot: My wife has decided to follow her dream of being a farmer, which sucks for someone like me who’d rather live in a big city, but you’re not mistaken about the eggs. The difference between the eggs we eat now, from our own chickens, and store-bought eggs is like the difference between fresh-squeezed orange juice and the from-concentrate stuff.
If you ever get back to Chicago, you’re welcome to take a short drive over to Indiana and enjoy some delicious free-range eggs and some grass-fed beef. Our chickens and steers enjoy organic pastures and low-stress lives with weekly reflexology and morning yoga (or at least organic pastures).

I almost always agree with the brilliant, bitter Buddha, Eddie Pepitone. But now it turns out that he is one of those crazy wild animal feeding people? Profoundly disappointing. (And I LOVE animals.)
