Episode #323: Shopping For Food featuring Al Madrigal
by admin on August 15, 2011
Al Madrigal (The Daily Show, stand-up) joins the The Long Shot aisle browsers to discuss Koreatown, documentaries, polite firings, and Manifest Destiny.
Pseudo-tweeting-style commentary…some fish are smarter than others. Groupers, for example. Meanwhile, one of my Charming Tics is triggered by anyone misidentifying chimpanzees as “monkeys,” rather than apes such as ourselves, bonobos, gorillas, orangs, chimps, siamangs and gibbons. Though Barbary apes are monkeys, as are babboons and mandrills. Now you’re enriched.
(And, hey, Barbary apes are macaques…macaques are the mostly widely-dispersed primates after humans…they’re the snow monkeys in Japan, they’re the only wild monkeys in Europe…macaques will inherit the Earth!)(watch for them in piano bars)
Jamie really needs to start writing a script about his life. It would be the Da Vinci Code of the mundane! Great episode, guys. Al seems like he’d be the best person to be fired by in the world.
The narration of activity (for the blind and otherwise visually impaired) on video, at least, is called Descriptive Video Service (DVS) or DV Information (DVI)…Descriptive Podcast Information would be perhaps a pioneering aspect of THE LONG SHOT.
Every little bit helps us to pay for things like audio engineers, new technology, and little things like our food and shelter. No pressure, though.

Now we’ll never know how Jamie rates Tribe hummus.
Shame! (I’ve rarely managed to get a salad at Whole Wallet for as little as $12.)
(That last before hearing Jamie’s resignation, in the wake of confusion over when the season’s last episode might be.)
Glad there’s at least one more episode forthcoming before the break…
i like to say (to myself) that eddie is a “goddamn american treasure”, but i really hate it when he gets short with Amber.
i hope that Babycakes is a guest one day, there could be so much squirell talk!
